HIGH PERFORMANCE SECURITY CAMERA

Its a usual view to see CCTV cameras every area that we went to but nowadays,with a new technology, the CCTV also undergo a changes on its function and appearance. My observation in East Coast Mall has result me with this problem :

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

    Can only record straight to a video tape recorder which are able to record analogue signals as pictures. If the analogue signals are recorded to tape, then the tape must run at a very slow speed in order to operate continuously.

·        In one second, the camera scene can change dramatically.

·       Has a very low speed in capturing images.

·         If the targets are few meters away, they are invariably looks like a blur, unless the subject keeps relatively still.

·         It is cheap, but inevitably the resulting in compression of digital signals.

SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

Replace the analogue type CCTV with the digital type because :

           

•        These cameras do not require a video capture card because they work using a digital signal which can be saved directly to a computer which is more energy save.
•       The video quality is adjustable.

•        Have a very high quality video and lead to a very good performance.
• 
  
•       It has a higher pixels resolutions which gives better images.
• 
  
•        Provide a higher security level to the surrounding areas.

Anti-theft Retail Store Security

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

•       The owner has less control on the activities of customer, in and out of the shop.
•       High percentage in shoplifting crime to occur.
•      Low security level of protection on the display items and products.
•      The workers have to monitor the movement of each customer that enters the shop.
•      A high potency on products loss due to lack of security.

        SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

• ·       Add on a high security tag for all of the products in the shop.
  ·       A sensomatic compatible tags will create a signal to the pillar so all the items cannot be taken out of the premise.
  ·       The two combinations automatically prevent shop-listings crime and enhancing the effectiveness of the shop’s smart grid.
  ·       It will also monitor the number of stocks of the item which give less works to the worker.
  ·       This security system will make energy management tools available to business and consumers, with an eye reducing energy costs.

The activies during do our research.

1. First meeting

We discussed our plan,what date and day went to the East Coast Mall.


2. Our destinations.

 

We went to the East Coast Mall twice. For the first time, we go at 28.09.2011 on Wednesday after we finished our class session. We go by rent car because on that day, no buses provided.  While for the second time,we go at 8.10.2011 on Sunday. On that day, we go by UMP's bus because we had lacks of budget money.

 3. Meeting for second time went to ECM 

We held a short meeting for the second time at Dewan Kuliah. We discuss about our findings and next step what to do?

4. Went to the East Coast Mall for the second time.

 Mira and Atira in the UMP bus. We leave at 8.30am on Sunday,8.10.2011.


5. Arrived at East Coast Mall but doesn't open yet.

Waiting the main entrance is open.

6. Spent our leisure time

Team working can built when everyone give support ideas.

ELECTRONIC CASH REGISTER MACHINE

A cash register is a mechanical or electronic device for calculating and recording sales transactions, and an attached cash drawer for storing cash. The cash register also usually prints a receipt for the customer. In the modern world today, the electronic cash register machine has turned into a new technology. However, recently in East Coast Mall, I still found the old version of cash register machine.

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

·         It has a very limited function available since cash register is available in a wide range of functions and abilities. 

·         Not flexible for different kind of  business because a larger business need to use the product code scanner to make stock counting much easier.

·         The old machine is low in processing speed.

·         Not fully secure.

·         In most cases the drawer can be opened only after a sale, except when using special keys.

SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

·         Improve the efficiency and way of business of a company.

·         Meet and exceed the business expectations and costumer’s needs.

·         It offers high speed thermal printing of receipt.

·         It is easy to maintain and has a user friendly interface that can be programmed.

·         It has a retail based software and management tool to simplify operations by tracing inventory, managing employees, employee time sheet working hour tracking (punch in and out), payroll management, enter tracking detail, and much more.

Wireless Fire Safety.

Fire is one of the emergencies that have a high rate in casualties. The possibility of surviving in this life-threatening situation can be increased by our knowledge on how to operate an extinguisher. During my research at East Coast Mall (ECM), I had found their fire extinguisher is an old version. In my opinion, it needs a new improvement in technology by using wireless.

The problems : 

1. Difficult to handle it, need a professional person to handle it.
2. Every monthly need to inspections of a fire extinguisher ensured the device will work properly3. Fire hose too high it's placed, difficult for short person to use it.
4. It looks not attractive because old fashion design.
5. The workers should also ensure the fire extinguishers are in good condition through annual maintenance checks and safety inspections. 

The solutions :

1. Can Notify Operations and Management personnel

2.  It can deliver the generated alarms, supervisory and troubles to any device

3. Targeted to on-duty groups or broadcast to everyone
4.  Require alert confirmation with automatic escalation

5.  Filters for any type of alert distribution

DIGITAL SIGNAGE

We can often see signage in every location that we go including a mall. A typical signage might have information, a location, an advertisement, menus and some other message because it can be seen clearly. The problem that I found in East Coast Mall ( ECM ) regarding the signage is that the signage is :

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

   

•        This type of signage could not be seen from a distance. Besides, it was put too high on the ceiling      which is not practical for user.
•        The type of font used and the logos are small in size and hard to be recognize from far.
•          The directions are too simple and do not provide the full information needed by customers.
•          The location of the signage which is too near to the lights often distract the attention of readers due to the reflection.
•       The signage was not put in a appropriate place. Therefore customers had difficulties in following the signage.

         

        SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

  The solution is by replacing the old signage with the new digital guidance signage displays because:
  
  
  ·         It’s a form of electronic display that is not only act as guidance by providing a location but it can also be use to show Television programming, menus, advertising and other messages.
  
  
  
  ·         Digital signs come in different form and function such as LCD, LED, and plasma display, or projected images that make signage function more practically.
  
  
  ·         Digital signage displays are most usually controlled by personal computers or servers by way of proprietary software programs, avoiding any large capital outlays for the controller equipment.
  
  
  ·         The target messages of info can be deliver to customers clearly and much easier to understand.

Hand wash pipes

Hand wash pipes are important to us when our hand is dirty or need to wash our hands after hold something and many more. Usually, hand wash pipes have their own style how to operate such as need to press the top button or hand's sensor detector.

The problems :

1. Need to press the top button.
2. Difficult to press when kids using it. 
3. The presser automatically will pull up and the water will not flow.
4. Can spread germs because many people pressed the button.
5. The design is not attractive.

The solutions :

1. This hands free lavatory is automatic and good for toilet.
2. No need to press because have sensor detector.
3. Comfortable to kids using it.
4. Prevent from disease germs.
5. People will love to use it because it's easy to use.
